Meet Ella, our Junior Designer

Ella joined Air & Grace in 2021, but it feels like she's been part of our little team forever! Our office trendsetter, Ella's never seen without her signature sunnies, and amazing nail art.

Hey Ella! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi! I'm Ella the junior designer here at A&G, I’ve only been here 8 months but feel like I’ve been apart of the team for years. I got my degree from London College of Fashion studying cordwainers footwear design, and since then I have spent the past 3 years looking at and talking about shoes every day!
I also have quite an extensive shoe collection… 

Have you always known you wanted to be a footwear designer?

I grew up in a creative house hold and have always loved fashion, after doing textiles at A-level I decided I wanted to go down a more 3D and sculptural route - footwear design was the perfect answer! I love the creative but also the product development side, also it's pretty cool seeing people walking down the street wearing shoes you designed! 

What was the first shoe you ever designed for A&G? 

It was our Cru Signature with khaki suede & pink leather on our gum sole. I love the pink & khaki together, it's one of my favourite colour combos!

Where do you get your inspiration? 

Living in London is such a great source of inspiration, I'm constantly surrounded by colours, art & culture. All the great shopping and shoe spotting on busy tube journeys make it easy to stay up to date on all the new trends. 

Top 3 A&G styles? 

I love the height of Roxy, the way my Troupe boots go with my whole wardrobe & the comfort of Moli for those hot city days. 

How do you make sure A&G shoes are always super comfy? 

We go through many rounds of sampling, development & wear trials before a new product gets launched. We have a super close relationship to factory and suppliers & this constant communication ensures we get the best product whilst still being sustainable and not over sampling. 

Can you tell us anything about what's coming soon? 

We are currently working on SS23 we have lots of exciting new sandal style.. think cool strappy gladiator & fisherman sandals but with ultimate comfort.
