Look after your shoes and they'll look after you
At Air & Grace we use high quality leathers and materials for all our shoes to ensure you can enjoy them for a long time, but like all of us, shoes need a little care to keep them looking their best.
Our guide will take you through how best you can care for your Air & Grace purchases.
Trying on new shoes
Try your shoes on first thing in the morning and in the evening. Feet slightly swell during the course of the day, so to ensure a proper fit we suggest trying on shoes in the evening. Make sure you try both shoes on as most people have a slight variance in size from one foot to another.
Be sure to stand up and walk (indoors on carpet) to make sure they are comfortable. Your toes should not be touching the front of the shoe, however they will give a little in width with wear. Do make sure they are a good fit all over before wearing outdoors as we are unable to exchange/refund due to sizing issues.
When taking shoes off, make sure you untie any laces first and avoid using one foot to hold down the back of the shoe in order to slip your other foot out. This can eventually cause damage to the back of the shoes.
When putting on shoes, make sure laces are untied. If you squash your feet in you can weaken the heel and cause the material to become damaged.
Protection
Before your wear your shoes for the first time, we recommend using Collonil Carbon Pure waterproofing spray to protect them. This is a high-performance spray-on waterproofer that gives your shoes long-lasting protection against any dirt or spills that may happen!
Cleaning
If you get your shoes muddy – don’t panic! We recommend using our shoe protection kit to clean them.
It works on all leathers and suedes and will remove dirt and stains without discolouring. We also love that it’s propellant and solvent free. Just spray on shoes and leave for a few moments before wiping off with a soft damp cloth.
Just a final word... never put your trainers in the washing machine.
Care by material
LEATHERS
All of our leather shoes are made from high quality, natural leather as it is soft, comfortable and durable, as well as being kinder to the environment.
As a natural material, even the most luxurious leathers can age with time and use, and therefore needs looking after.
We recommend cleaning your leather footwear with Collonil's cleaning foam. Simply apply foam to a soft cloth and rub over the leather evenly, then remove with a water-moistened cloth.
SUEDE
Suede material requires a little extra care.
Use our Rubber Brush to gently clean & buff fibres thoroughly. The rubber comb loosens dirt and absorbs stains.
The brush can work effectively without any other cleaners, but for more stubborn or old stains, use in conjunction with Collonil Clean & Care Foam.
Once sprayed with the Collonil Carbon Pure, you shouldn't have any trouble with spills or dirt.
EMBELLISHMENT
Disclaimer: Embellishments are attached as securely as possible, but need to be treated with a little extra love and care. Embellishments can detach from the shoe with wear.
BAGS
We recommend protecting the leather bags you can buy from Air & Grace with Colloni's Waterproof spray.
Store out of direct sunlight.
