Meet the stockist | Mhairi from Lulu & M

Mhairi is the owner of Lulu & M in Brought Ferry, a contemporary fashion boutique with a focus on Luxe Scandinavian & British design.

We caught up with Mhairi to find out a bit more about our fabulous new stockist...

What did you want to be when you were little?

When I was in my late teens I really wanted to be a DJ.  I used to go to this trendy bar in Glasgow at the weekend and they had a really cool female DJ, she was amazing! I’d have been way too shy, though...

What makes you happy?

Family, friends and good food.

What does your typical weekend consist of?

I work in the shop all day on a Saturday and unless we have plans, I’m quite excited about the thought of getting home and getting my pjs on and chilling with the husband and dog.  Sunday’s are normally the same, we’re surrounded by some really beautiful beaches both in Broughty Ferry and in near by St Andrews so a walk on the beach with the dog is usually on the cards.

How did you get into fashion?

I love fashion and styling and always wanted to have my own business, when we moved away from the all of the cool shops of Glasgow to somewhere with less choice, I knew it was the right time.

What makes Lulu & M brilliant?

In my opinion, Lulu & M is brilliant because we work with the best people.  Our staff are passionate about the Lulu & M brand and really care about our customers, and our customers are super supportive of what we do.  We also work with amazing brands that produce interesting, exciting collections all year round.  These things make Lulu & M a great place to work and to shop.

If you weren’t running Lulu & M what would you like to have done with your career? What would be your Plan B?

Before Lulu & M, I worked in the finance industry which I really enjoyed.  There was lots of opportunity there whether in Sales or Service.  I really love working for myself, though.

What does ‘being comfortable’ mean to you?

Being comfortable for me means feeling an inner peace and happiness, with little stress and the odd holiday to look forward to.

What would your ideal shoe look like? And where would you wear it?

I love the idea of a spikey high heel with lots of gorgeous embellishment, but in reality, at the moment for me, comfort reigns supreme so a flat slip on or a cool trainer makes me happy.

What’s your favourite Air & Grace style?

Where to start?! I really love Cru White Star or Black Glitter,  and I’ve my eye on the high top Animal...
